Volunteer!

This festival is volunteer-run and non-profit. Become a co-creator of this event by volunteering to be on a team that invents, manages, sets up one of the numerous areas below. All are guaranteed super fun ways to meet new people and practice cooperative creative problem-solving.

High school students can use this opportunity to gather community service credits towards their graduation.

On Festival Day, Go To:
Saturday, April 25th at 208 Bay Street (ETG Book Cafe)

 
Morning Set-Up
25 people 8am–10:30pm

  • Check that the area is clean
  • Tent company installing 2 large 20x20 tents (no volunteers)
  • Set-Up Kids' and Word stages and PA system (Steve's 2 special volunteers)
  • Set-Up small pop-up tents 4 people  (4 person teams work best)
  • Carry stage platforms into tents 4 people
  • Run electric (Steve's 1–2 special volunteers)
  • Hang Banners/Signage Don't forget the banner that hangs on the main stage!
  • Set-Up Volunteer Check-In Area
  • Place tables and chairs in Earth Day Zone
  • Place tables and chairs in the Craft Area
  • Place chairs in Music Stage area (Plaza Stage)
  • Place chairs in Word Stage area
  • Place carpet, benches and chairs in Kids Stage area (hang decorations, secure event schedule signage, etc.)
  • Place tables and benches in Craft Areas (hang posters, secure event schedule signage, cover tables with table cloths, place art supplies on tables, etc.)
  • Remove a portion of chains in park as entrances to the Kids Craft Area and add decorations to prevent damage to feet/shins...
  • Tables and chairs to Info Area; set-up INFO there
  • Decorate the Park: hang Renee's creations, hang the kids' shields around park entrances, extra decor around kids' craft area to prevent injury (see above)
  • Chalk-art the sidewalk and closed off street
  • Set-Up Photo Booth and dragon-photo cut-out thing
  • Set up Answer Man sign and 2 chairs

GrowNYC’s Free Store
8-12 people (2 shifts of 4-6 people each?)

Assist as need be.

GrowNYC’s Recycling Games
20 people (all GrowNYC volunteers will assist at this time)
3:30pm–4:30pm

    Misc Festival support
  • Hand Out Festival Information and Storybooks 3–5 people
  • Staff a Table 5–6 people what is this?
  • Take Photographs 1–3 people
  • Paint Kid’s Faces 3–5 people
  • Move chairs between Deep Tanks and the festival site for the kids' philharmonic 3–5 people
  • Sell t-shirts 3–5 people 
  • Distribute Festival Story Books 3–5 people
  • Keep the Park clean 20 people: crews are needed from set-up to breakdown - there will be sets of groups from 8am until 7pm.
